What Does Internal Affairs DO?
Internal Affairs is responsible for investigating allegations of misconduct, corruption, or policy violations involving department personnel. This can include reviewing complaints made by civilians or other officers, gathering evidence, interviewing involved parties, and determining whether any wrongdoing occurred. Beyond investigations, IA also works to promote a culture of honesty and accountability, recommending retraining, disciplinary actions, or policy improvements when necessary. Their goal is to protect the integrity of the department and maintain the public’s trust in law enforcement.
